Baby Quilt

Disclaimer:  I am NOT a quilter.  So please, all you quilters out there, don't judge too harshly!

My young neighbor is having a little girl this month.  I was looking at sewing patterns the other day, and accidentally found the most adorable quilt pattern.  On a whim I decided I would "whip this quilt out" for her (after not sewing for at least ten years).  HA HA.

She has done her nursery bedding in "Kirby" by Glenna Jean.

Very bright and cheerful.  She painted one wall hot pink, and one wall dark dark gray (the background color of the bedding print).  So I decided to try to make a quilt the would go with this, even though I'm of a pastel mind set for babies!

I had a hard time finding a floral with the dark background.  And as you can tell, my skill level leaves something to be desired.

But she will know it was made with love!

This little quilt has shown me that I need to start now if I intend to make things for my (as yet unknown and unexpected) grandchildren!  I always underestimate how long ANY project will take me!

Aren't these little flowers so Mary Engelbreit?  And for some reason, I find I love sewing the blanket stitch.

Here you see the backing fabric.  I also put a fabric sleeve on the back so she could hang it on a dowel if she wants to.

Now, we've already had her shower.  Should I wait till the baby comes, or give it to her now?  Decisions, decisions.
